RESTAURANTS MUST CLOSE AT NOON THROUGHOUT THE MONTH OF RAMADAN

  • Indonesia is a country with a variety of diversity, one of which is religious diversity. There are six religions recognized in Indonesia, namely Islam, Christianity, Catholicism, Confucianism, Hinduism and Buddhism. However, the majority of religions adhered to by people in Indonesia are Islam. Differences of opinion in living life cannot be avoided. However, the topic that has just been discussed is the statement that restaurants must close during the day throughout the month of Ramadan. In my opinion, that opinion is not correct. Considering the many religions other than Islam that are adhered to by Indonesian people, even though Islam is the majority religion practiced in Indonesia.

The opinion that eating places must close during the day throughout the month of Ramadan has raised pros and cons among the public. And for me, that opinion is indeed an inaccurate opinion. As a person who has a sense of tolerance, I respect and acknowledge the existence of other religions, one of which is by expressing my opinion that I do not agree that restaurants are "required" to close during the day during the month of Ramadan. Even though restaurants are open, it will not affect fasting if people who are fasting are not tempted to break their fast. Fasting is an obligatory worship in Islam, so if you don't do it you will be guilty. And fasting has nothing to do with the opening or closing of restaurants during the day in the month of Ramadan. Because whether you can fast or not depends on the individual's faith.

Diversity is inevitable. As humans we must be aware of differences. Respecting others amidst differences shows that we have a sense of tolerance towards fellow humans. This includes the topic of restaurants having to close during the month of Ramadan. We must respect and we must be aware that in Indonesia it is not just Islam. However, there are many other religions and many other people who live in Indonesia. I think this opinion is inaccurate because as we know, Indonesia has many religions, even though the majority of its people adhere to it is Islam. And fasting can work well if there is faith in the person who is doing it.
